I bought a membership, now how do I sign in?

How does payment work and what happens when I buy a membership?

We accept nearly every payment option: VISA, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, PayPal, Amazon Payments, Bitcoin and Dwolla. After buying a membership, you can immediately begin watching every Watercolor University video class. You’ll also receive a purchase confirmation email from Tinypass, our payments system.

You can either pay a 1-time fee or commit to monthly/yearly automatic payments for continuous, uninterrupted access. Paying a 1-time fee gives you unlimited views for a pre-specified number of days, starting from the time you make your 1-time payment. If you commit to month-to-month or yearly payments, each membership cycle begins when you’re charged. For example, if you type in your credit card to buy a month-to-month membership with 3-day free trial at 1pm on January 1, your card isn’t charged until after the free trial ends at 1:01pm January 4. If you don’t cancel your membership, your next charge will automatically happen 30 days after January 4.

Cancel anytime by emailing [email protected] with your purchase confirmation email.

I have a small apartment and no room to create art. Plus, I don’t want to make a mess. What should I do?

You do not need a large space to create art. In fact, all you need is a table, chair, and your art supplies to set up your own art studio at home! We suggest using an old sheet or tablecloth to protect your table or furniture. If you are concerned about spills or mess, use a drop cloth or old sheet and place it on the floor around the area where you are creating artwork.

Please open your windows for proper ventilation, and use a window fan or air conditioner if possible, when painting with oil paintings or any other art materials that require ventilation. Please do not use any toxic art supplies in your home.

Can I participate in my online class with my smartphone?

Yes! A laptop, desktop or tablet is preferable so you can see your instructor in a larger format. And, smartphones will also work.

I’ve taken in-person classes. How will your online classes be similar or different?

Our online classes will be taught with the same inspiration, encouragement and  individualized attention that we are known for. All classes will be taught by the same art instructors you know and love!

Our experienced art teachers have been, and will continue to be, trained thoroughly in order to succeed in translating your in-person art class experience into our online platform, and we will do our best to make this new world of online classes as similar as possible to the face-to-face art classes you are used to.

Both teacher and students will be able to see and hear one another, and students will point their device on their artwork so that your teacher can provide feedback as you create your artwork in real time.  Because your teacher will not be able to show you in-person demonstrations right on your artwork, they will show you specified techniques on screen, tailored just for you.

Online art classes for kids and adults will begin as usual with a hands-on demonstration of art techniques or an instructional art video. As you and your classmates continue to work on your own artwork, your teacher will provide feedback, guidance and support based on your needs. You will now be able to learn even more from your classmates, and you will be able to see and hear the feedback provided to all students of your class. There will also be opportunities to receive feedback and artistic critique from the entire class.

Do you prefer the quiet of your own art zone as you create? No problem. You will be able to mute or turn the volume down at any time so you can listen to what you want, when you want. You will also be able to text questions to your instructor at any time to get their attention.

For younger kids art classes, step-by-step instruction will be provided for kids to follow along with, and kids will interact with one another as they share creative ideas. Art history will continue to be taught in many kids art classes, too!

I’m having trouble connecting to Zoom. What should I do?

Zoom is a very well-established video conference system that we have adopted for use in our online classes. The Zoom website has helpful tutorials and tips to help you make the most of this online learning experience. Youtube also has free tutorials available.

I need more art supplies. Where can I order them?

We have created bundles of art supplies that you can order directly from us on our website. They will be shipped directly to your home. You may also visit any online art store to order supplies directly.

Will there be make-up classes?

Our standard makeup policy applies.

I was registered for an in-person class and my class has been moved online. I want a refund, I don’t want an online class. How do I get a refund?

We are sorry that we cannot offer refunds for classes that have moved online. During this global crisis, we are doing all we can to provide you with the top-notch art classes that you are used to while keeping our community healthy and safe. While online classes may be new for you, we ask you to take your online class for at least two sessions. If after the second session, you are not satisfied, as long as we know you attended those two sessions fully, please contact our office to discuss options for credit towards a future class.

I love your online art classes! Will you add more to your schedule, and will you be offering these once you do resume in-person classes?

The Art Studio NY had already been planning on offering Online Art Classes, and we will continue to do so, thus offering both in-person and online art classes in the future. We will be adding new online art classes for kids and adults regularly, so please check our schedule to register for the art class of your choice.

I do not live in New York City. May I still join your art classes?

Yes! One of the wonderful things about this unfortunate turn of events is that we have moved all of our classes online for anyone, anywhere, to enjoy! You may join from wherever you are in the world, as long as you have an Internet connection that can show video.

When will your in-person classes begin again?

We are following the lead of the CDC, State and Federal governments. We hope to re-open The Art Studio NY as soon as possible. Our top priority is the safety and wellbeing of our community, and we are committed to bringing you the fulfillment, relaxation, and enjoyment of our art classes in your home until we are alerted that in-person classes may resume.
